Gurkirat Singh

Gurkirat Singh is a Masters student in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at OSU. He did his Bachelors (Honors) in Agriculture from Punjab Agricultural University, India. Having a profound interest in plant genetics and breeding, Gurkirat is inquisitive about how genetic regulatory mechanisms work under various stress conditions and how we can implement our understanding to mitigate the effects of these stresses on crop production. The focus of his research is to determine the role of raffinose sugar oligosaccharides (RFOs) and genes involved in enhancing the late-spring frost tolerance in grapevines. Additionally, he will be investigating the role of potassium in improving cold stress resilience in grapevines.
