         Cullen Dixon is a Translational Plant Sciences graduate student rotating in our lab this fall.  He is investigating genes responsible for the musky flavor produced by some wild and hybrid grapevine varieties.

         Esha, Josias, and Patrick had a busy summer, using QPCR to explore genes involved in important agronomic traits in grapevine, including cold tolerance, breaking bud dormancy, and flowering.  All three presented posters at Summer Research Symposia.  Nice work!

         Dr. Li joined the Gschwend Lab in May and will take the lead on our wild grapevine genome sequencing and comparative genomic projects.

       Our grapevines have grown nicely over the past few months and are doing great in the greenhouse.  The students in the lab have been collecting chilling requirement, bud break, and phenotypic data for our grapevine accessions throughout propagation.  Tissue will be collected

           We received our native Vitis grapevine cuttings today!  These grapevines will be propagated and utilized for our sequencing and comparative genomic projects.
