The Gschwend Lab welcomes Dr. Bo Li!

Bo earned his PhD degree from Beijing Forestry University, China. During a 5-years study, he mainly focused on quantitative genetics of poplar, using genetic mapping and QTL analysis. He then joined Dr. Mingsheng Chen’ lab in the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, China Academy of Sciences, as a postdoc and then as an assistant professor. Here he learned to analyze genomic data, with major research interests in comparative genomics and evolution of crop species, especially rice and corn. In 2015, he got the opportunity to work in Dr. Edward Buckler’s lab at Cornell University for a year, where he examined the natural variation of rRNA copy number and expression for a maize diversity population. In 2019, Bo join our lab as a postdoctoral researcher. He will lead our wild grapevine genome sequencing project and conduct comparative analyses with cultivated grapevine genomes to address biological questions related to grapevine evolution and crop improvement.
